ordered the Clarion for $199 ($299 -$100 sale)

Now to peice together the new sub/amp combo. im leaning towards MTX. They have never let me down.

I know you just placed your order, and I'm not sure what the US pricing is like, but I just got the Clarion DXZ955MC a little over a week ago, and I absolutely love. You can control just about everything with this thing. Last HU I'm ever buying, most likely...

not looking to spend that much. I dont really like loud bass.. just nice punchy bass to fill.. I was happy with two old school mtx's.. "entry levels" new set up will be similar.. I think two 12" mtx 5500 or something similar with an mtx amp to push them.

I can do 60.00 shipped on the orion 2 x 80 watts..clean amp sounds great..

if you don't really like loud bass then why the hell are you interested in a pair of 12"s? A single 8" or 10" sub with 200-300 watts RMS will fill out the low end just fine...especially in a hatchback like the P5.

I agree, If you're just looking for nice bottom end and not loud, get an IDQ10 D4 v.2 and give it 2-or 300 watts.

In a hatchback that should give you nice bump, and it's a great SQ sub also.

Plus, they're only $149 on Sound Domain.

No, I hadn't seen your set up, but you did say above that you DON'T like loud bass...

That set up would tend to imply that you DO like loud bass...

Maybe you meant to say the opposite!

Well before you buy anything I would check the mounting depth. That custom box might not hold a 1000w subwoofer (which tend to have large magnet structures).

Did you do the install yourself?

did I make the box? no.. Impact made that box. It cant hold something too huge. It goes into the whole spare well.

I always try to match or exceed the recommended RMS power for the subwoofers. For example if you have two 300w RMS subwoofers I would recommend an 600+ watt amplifier. Will a 500watt amplifer work? Yes...but a 600 or better yet 700 watt amplifier will work better.

Both of the amps specified are alright...for a single subwoofer. I know they are having a deal and everything but you only need one 12" in a car the size of a Protege5, especially since it is a hatch back and you won't loose any sound in the trunk. Plus it doesn't look like you have plans to power your front speakers with an external amp.

For amps and subs, I would recommend MTX over Infinity.
