Check engine light on with reduced power

[Mazda5-07-GS]

Wife was driving car stopped at store came out started the car again, only to see the check engine light on, she says it started fine but barely had enough power to drive up to 60 km/h. She drove the car home as it was a only a short distance left. She let the car sit while we debated on which garage to take it to, so next day comes around she tries the car again and there's no problem anymore except check engine light is on. Anybody have any idea what this problem is?

Sounds like your wife's MZ5 is or was running on limp mode as to not cause further damage. Without an actual fault code read out nobody will be able to share some possible culprits. Have the code checked and share here.

If you have an Andrio/IOS phone, just buy a bluetooth ODB2 reading and use an app. Cheaper and more fun (please don't stare at the things while you drive).

Engine code was P2119, engine light is now gone

Looks to be related to the throttle body, either hardware or a wiring issue. If it comes back, Google is your friend

For starters, check wiring connection to the TB is in good condition and properly connected and two get your TB cleaned or diy and then disconnect battery for a good 20 mins, re-connect battery and do a idle learn procedure.

Same thing happened to my Mazda 5 today. Going to auto-zone to get code.
