so my check engine light turned on twice after going more then 115-120mph , i had to smog my car recently so i thought a genius idea would be to reset my battery terminals so i could pass smog rite? lol wrong it didnt pass smog but the check engine light went away so the smog place couldnt tell me what to fix to pass smog. now i have to figure out what it is because ironicly it wont turn back on !!! plz help on what the problem could be? thanks alot

^^ umm naw i think the cel is more of a concern haha pull the codes at an auto parts store and it'll be easier to identify the problem
. ya i have an obd2 but it wont show the codes cuz i took out my battery to get recharged 
so now i have to wait for it to turn back on?...sad faceboostedprotege

Speed limiter comes in at 118 unless my car is weird. But what ur gona have to do is wait to get your battery and drive around untill the cel comes on again then check it. Since u didn't pass ur emissions and it wasn't throwing a code I would say something exhaust related. Egr valve o2 sensor pre cat etc don't hold me to it though

I agree with this no need to be goin that fast on any road its just not tht safe especially in these cars barely get to 90 and never know what can happen. But your car your life I'm not here to rag or lecture

make sure you turn at redline first. hard left hand. that will replicate the cel for sure

Even without a cel being on, if your rediness monitors for the emissions system arent reset it will fail. just keep driving it will come back on it could take a while though. sometimes it can take 150-250 just to reset the rediness monitors to pass.

bearly get to 90???? are you in a protege 1.6 or something? ive had my fsde up to 140 with a stock ecu... car gets to 90 mph with no problems..

I have a mp3 and the speed limiter/gov. Comes in at about118 so I doubt your doing 140. But look at my previous cars( 86 mustang 500ish hp to wheels, 240sx, 85 pontiac killed the mp3) sp it might just be me maybe I should drive a geo metro then compare
