check engine help - P0740

"A malfunction exists in the electrical circuit for the torque converter clutch."

the check engine light came on after my "HOLD" indicator light was flashing for a few days.
does anybody have any experience or advise for this problem?

my power tilt wheel coincidentally quit as well. there are no signs of performance issues yet. could this just be an electrical wiring problem? or is it most likely a transmission problem?

btw, it's for a 2002 Millenia.

Newer auto trannys rely on several sensors to work properly. It's not uncommon for the sensors to fail from time to time, but the failure is usually accompanied by noticable problems in the shifting performance of the tranny. Luckily for us OBDII owners the ECUs usually figure out what the problem is for us. Call your local dealer and tell them what code you've got there and they should be able to tell you what will fix it. Once the faulty part is fixed or repaired disconnecting the battery and pumping the brakes a few times should reset the ECU and clear the codes. Just reconnect the battery and all should hopefully be right.
