Well anybody interested in doing a hose kit under the hood and were looking at hosetechniques hose kit dont waste the $60 dollars. I just went to autozone and got a universal kit for $20 and it fit perfect. Got all hoses in with inches to spare of hose left but got em all hooked up. even got the washer fluid hose. But yeah anybody looking to dress up there engine its cheap and a quick drive up to autozone and only takes an hour or so to install.

There are cheaper ones out there ... but in the end you USUALLY will regret going with a lesser brand. I have seen alot of the hose kits fade really bad, and start to crack. The ones you got might work perfectly fine ... but im just giving you a heads up now.

I ordered my Hose techniques kit today based on the pics I've seen of Protege5Gurly's and Matthew's engine bays. Shoot I'm using their pics as a road map to dressing up my engine bay.

Yes, it is called Flexloom!(hah) :p

I installed my hose techniques kit today, and it looks awesome!! The kit even comes with 2 cutters, one for slicing in half and another for sections. Very nice set-up :D I think its worth the money......well i got it in the Protege5online group buy for $50.

I saw that kit @ Pep Boys today. I have seen a few different brands. I will agree that I used a "universal kit" in my show car, and the coolant lines ended up leaking half of my resevoir on me. I won't use that brand again. Has anyone had any problems with the Spectre or other brands Autozone and PepBoys carry? I would like to know so I don't want the money on them. I would get the Hose Techniques kit, but I am not sure if they make a kit for the 03.5 MSP. I know the lines are different since it has the turbo and whatnot. I also need a big long hose to run the boost lines to the electronic boost controller and gauge. The hose that came with the gauge is decent, but it is ugly orange/red, and I had to splice into it, so now it is not long enough. At any rate, if anyone knows of a kit specifically for the MSP, or at least knows the sizes (I can order Hose Techniques in lengths from Cork Sport)...that would really help! Thanks!!

actually i have a mazdaspeed and im pretty happy with the the hose techniques kit. i used all the hose except for a few inches. yes i know i didnt replace all the hose. i mean i did just split some hose and replace the black padding on the a/c lines. And i have a boost gauge and boost controller that helped use some hose. but there was a lot of hoses i didnt get to place also. here is my car. clink the links under the pics for high res pics.

Looks great man, by the way did you simple slice them down the middle and place them over the existing or totally replace them? Also, what kit did you buy and how much? I think im gonna buy the red kit for my msp (yellow) should add a nice touch to the bay. Lookin good man!

His post actually says he replaced most of the hoses, but the complicated ones he just split the hose and fit it over the A/C lines, hood prop, etc. That is exactly how I would do it, actually. I am impressed and intriqued now. I still don't want to spend a fortune, but I would be interested in this kit if it was a decent price. Where did you get it from Freekwonder? Where you able to get it from the Protege 5 Forum group buy, or did you have to buy it directly from Hose Techniques? I saw they had a kit, but I didn't know if it was specifically designed for our car. I have the exact same car as you. In other words, it was more than enough to do all of those things you needed it for? I also have a boost gauge and boost control, and I ran the hose all the way from the intake manifold in the car and up the A-pillar pod, then over to the center console to the boost control. You think it includes plenty of hose to do that? Thanks for any help! I appreciate it, your engine looks sweet, nice color choice! (first)

thanks guys. i pretty much replaced all the hoses. the only ones i spliced are the ones on the a/c lines, the hood prop i just put a little dish soap in the hose and pulled it right now the hood prop, then cut the excess off that was haning. As for my boost gauge, I already had a hard line running to the gauge and didnt want to tear into my car again (i know im lazy) I took a line and spliced it and placed it on the hard line from the "T" to the fire wall. in the third pic down its the one that goes between the master cylnder and the battery. if you were to totatly replace that line i dont think you would have enough to replace to many more hoses under the hood. Ya i got mine from the group buy, but Mitch always has a good price on them and I orginally ordered a kit for my MP3 from his site and never had a problem. the kit turned out pretty good in my mind. but ill probably buy more hose in the future and do some more stuff with it for fun. thanks again.

I bought the spectre brand from Pep Boys and it's bad....only the smallest diameter is any good. The middle size collapsed on me under vacuum from the "t" to the BPV. I replaced it w/ the smaller stuff, and it's OK now. I'm gonna get the Hose Technique in orange, since I want to accent in that color anyway.
