Cheap Paint

I have chips all along the side of my car and on the front.
If i complain to mazda will they do anything about it?
I had a 96 ford escort for 6 years and it had 1 noticable chip on the front.

i know other P5 owners have the same problem.

other than buy a bra what can i do to prevent the chips???

Thanks!!!!!!!!

we have discussed this before....yes the paint seems kind of thin....and chips easily....the bra is your best bet I think...I am getting one before I have this problem.

there is a system called stoneguard, its like a clear film that goes on the front of the car...each kit is specifically cut for specific cars....I saw it at a car show not long ago....but I didn't care for the way it looked.

I remember reading in a few publications that the government had passed some law in 1998 requiring all North American car companies use water based car paints instead of oil based beginning with the 2000 year models. The result is that the paint is not as durable and is more prone to chipping. I also asked a local body shop and they confirmed the rumor to be true. Sucks for us doesn't it. Subaru owners have the exact problem, but I think it's a little worse with Subaru.

I haven't had the paint problem with my MP5 yet. One small chip in the hood, but not big deal. I can confirm the problem with the Subaru. My friend has a 2002 WRX and the day ht it he came over to my house and if the light hits it just right and you are looking at the side of the car at the right angle you can actually see a little bit of the gray sheet metal through the paint. Now that is sad.
