Changing tie rods

Hey I had a oil change recently done on my car and they listed two things, that there's a coolant leak from my thermostat and that the outer tie rod boot is busted.. I saw that these aren't very expensive and was wondering if anyone has advice as to how to change them? I have heard some noise coming from my susp. when in the cold and initially going over some bumps, could this be the problem? Is it necessary to get an alignment after changing tie rods? And what brand would probably be best to use?
Thanks,

head over to rockauto.com, pick up the thermostat housing gasket (its mislabelled in their catalog under "water outlet gasket" , part #11760) and the outer tie rods together for under 20 bucks (plus shipping tho). With some motivation you can install all 3 items in under an hour. if u count how many revolutions it was to take the old tie rods off, then put the new ones on in the same position, u'll get pretty close to where they need to be, but yes that's a definite maybe that u'll need an alignment afterwards anyway.

if the oil change techs were talking about the bellow that goes over the inner tie rods, then its a different ball game.

as far as squeeking in cold weather goes, just turn up the radio, squeek is from all other suspension parts that are not worth bothering with, but if u insist, for good measure u'd need new strut mounts all around and new sway bar bushings all around. and then if u feel adventurous front control arm bushings.
