CF Hood on EBay

I think their is purpose of the stock hood being heavy, Do to FWD so it will have more traction.

I thought I have herd it all, Guess not! I never really looked at it that way but I doubt the traction loss would be much if any. Besides it looks good and is completely functional. How often can you say that!

The top and bottom layers seperated at 65 mph and the top flew off and into the water as he crossed a bridge. He posted pics on the other forum.

I looked at the pictures and it looks like the scoop was TOO effective, it pulled air under the topside of the hood so well that it ripped the upper skin off.

did it damage the car at all? And can you link to the other post. Oh and the pictures above...what kind of front lip is that?

Which forum? I have to see the pic of that? That front lip is a Garage Vary or GV. Prob a knock off also as they have been floating around the forum for a while now.

Lip isnt a knock off.. It is a replica ;) Fitment is just as good and it is the exact same piece for 1/3 the price

No damage to the car or anyone elses car!

Wow, thats just gnarly! Luckily no one was hurt, esp the driver. Ive seen hoods do some serious damage to not only the car, but driver as well. Does anyone test anything anymore or just produce parts and "hope" they work? Lawsuit time!

Wow I am completely shocked. That just looks crazy! It look like such a nice piece and I was actually going to contact the company to see if they were going to make anymore. Guess I wont be doing that now. I am glad to see that you are ok...and the other drivers around too!

HAHA a replica cute. It is for the pricewise customer who would have bought the GV if they had the money. Only a ricer buys knock off stuff :). That sucks about the hood I was thinking of contacting you to check out the hood because I was in RI for the new year. Is the company going to help you out i.e. give you a brand spanking new one?

What speed did this happen at? I guess hood pins would not have been cool looking, but this is a great example of why all carbon hood manufactures recommend them.

I do not think the outcome would have been any different with hood pins or not! It looks as if the hood failed completely because the hood scoop worked almost 2 well! Just shotty construction!

Hood scoop worked too well?? Ummmm ok. (boom07)

The top and bottom portions seperated (all fg/cf hoods are made this may, top mould & bottom mould, and then bonded together). So unless the air from the scoop was feeding directly to the area between the two portions, that's not what caused it. Poor design is more likely... such as no bond around the scoop sealing the portions together... and by looking at the pics it's quite obvious what the problem was.

If it wasnt put together like crap, it wouldnt have split. I hope the rest of their hoods dont do that.

I'm getting the oem cf hood and paint it black mica just like my car too keep away the cops and robbers. Also oem so this wouldnt happen to me.
