Certified pre-owned worth it?

I am trying to decide between two 2006 speed6's. Here are the details:

A local dealer has a 2006 Sport with 35000 miles for around 20,000 and it is certified pre-owned. It is in really good shape, but is in need of new tires fairly soon, as the snows it currently has are almost gone.

Or, I can purchase a 2006 GT with every option including GPS for around 20,000 and it only has 16,000 miles.

I definitely would prefer the GT, as I want the heated leather seats. The GPS isn't that important to me, because I have a Garmin that I love. I almost would consider taking the GPS out and selling in on this site if it wasn't too much work.

Anyways, back to my question. Is the certified pre-owned warrant the exact same as the original warranty? Or do they limit what they cover?

For the same price, I would definitely prefer the GT, but want to see what everyone's thoughts were on the Sport with CPO.

For the same price, I'd go for the GT no questions asked. Besides, its got fewer miles. Lower miles now=Lower chances of problems later.

As for the certified business...I'm sure that the term "certified" varies with each dealer. I once had a dealer tell me that it costs them "1300$ to certify a car, and thats where the price hike comes from for a certified car." To me, "certified" is just another one of those BS terms dealers throw around to make sales...same thing for "MSRP" and "Invoice prices"...

The way I see it, A car under a certain age/mileage will be fixed under the terms of a warranty...supposedly. I wouldnt buy a car that has a higher mileage and fewer options just because it is "certified."
