I searched. The frustrating thing is I know I've seen this thread, but maybe it wasn't here. I also saw a video but I have no idea where that was. Should be getting my Audio Link iPod in a couple of days and I am looking for the how-to. Can anyone jog my memory? Thanks

i have a 04 6, ATX, im sure its the same way though. ive done it a million times.

all you have to do is
• make sure the e-brake is on,
• turn the car to "on" and make sure its in neutral.
• unscrew your shift knob
• pull up on the cupholder area and it should pop right off.
• then just pull the rest of the center console/shifter area out.

the cupholder part and the shifter part/ashtray are connected but come apart. if you want to take the whole thing off there will be a plug connected to the back of the cigarette lighter.

to take out the headunit there are two screws at the bottom after you pull out the ashtray area. there are also screws behind the A/C buttons. (i dont know about autoclimate though, i have manuel...) once all those screws are out you should be able to lift up slightly and the head unit face place should pop off.

and i just found this:

that might explain it better....

Thanks lazyb, I pieced together basically what I was looking for, and what you wrote will help as well. It's a little frustrating still because I KNOW I saw a thread that showed how to do this specifically on an MS6 (manual, auto climate) but searching has been fruitless. I found a link to a video that may be what I was thinking of after all, but the link is bad (howdudothat . com, featuring the "Tech Doctor" who I think might be on this or another forum. Thanks again.
