The fuel cut was lowered on the 2002s after many people blew up the 2000-2001s because the shift gates were so close. The 2000-2001s and 2003 GTS has a fuel cut of 8600rpms. You can trick the 2002s to rev them up to 8600 but you need an ecu from a model year with the 8600cut and a knock sensor. A few other goodies too.Replica said:Making power is fine above 6,000 rpm....but it fuel cuts at like 7400-7600...**** that. The fuel cut scared the hell out of me every time because it came so soon, like right in the middle of the pull.
A "Honda" is a little different. A B16 will go to high lift at 5900 and fuel cuts at 8300. That's a ton of revs to work with. When rowing through the gears you're always in the cam you need.
I know for a fact that the XRS comes in manual.pro5maniac said:i beleive the matrix xrs has the celica gts engine but it only comes in an auto which sucks...i looked into one i think like two years ago and they arent bad...but not the best looking cars ever
I've heard a handful of stories where Celicas race on the freeway and down from 5th or 6th to 2nd. I've also seen a celica that just did that on the side of the road where I was pulled over waiting for a tow truck.Jhova1012 said:The fuel cut was lowered on the 2002s after many people blew up the 2000-2001s because the shift gates were so close. up Protege's in a straight race.
From what I understand, the Celica is being dropped because it is made redundant by the Scion tC. Stupid move, in my opinion.rustychops41 said:I'm quite sad that Toyota is stopping the production of the Celica and MR2 after 2005. Now what is going to be their sports car? The Corolla and Matrix XRS?
I was following a new Scion TC, the two-door coupe thingie, on the freeway, and I swear the rear suspension arms and pieces look exactly like Celica parts. I wonder if this is Toyota's reasoning for dumping the Celica, if in fact the new Scion shares the mechanicals from the Celica? Just a thought

from what i have heard from my dads friend at gulf states toyota, they want to put more into the scion line, and the new sports car for the toyota name will be a sportier Solora(the supra is not comming back, the sportier solora will take its place) all this info is legit from a high rep in charge of the gulf state regionpro5maniac said:well from what i read at autoweek mag i think it was unsure...the reason why toyota is discontinuing the manufacturing of the celica an mr2 is because they have been making more then they can sell, so in esence they arent make much profit on them. also toyota started the scion line and i guess it was expensive for them so instead of going down hill they are dropping the two and trying to sell more scions i think. an i think.guess the scion tc and celica share some parts...when i read they were discontinuing them i was sad for a moment...then i laughed because i realized that my ex g/f had bought one because "it looks good and cool" and the fact that they are discontinuing it well....it made me laugh because that sucks for her...
