Just wondering what everyone thinks. I've noticed that the CDT's frequency response only goes to 20,000 but the Alpines go to 30,000. But then again the CDT's can handle 100w RMS easy while the Alpines are advertised to comfortably handle only 50w. Both speakers have there fans and there critics.

What do ya'll think?

Keep in mind you won't likely even be able to hear 18K let alone 30K. I can't hear over 17.5K

I personaly would listen and compare for yourself.

I second 1st's comments...My ears are probably so screwed I'll be luck to hear 17k nowadays. You really need to listen to them before you decide...the CDTs are a very strong speaker and are great for that price. Notice also that the Carbon fiber HDs are only 50$ more and handle more power...get a listen to those if you can. I paid 100$ for them when I got them...they've very nice...but some people might not like them.

i've heard the alpine type R 6.5's in one friend's car, and the CDT CL-61a's i installed in another friend's car. both were amped, and both sounded very similar. i was in the market for some 5.25" components, and the type R's were $150 and the CDT's were $200, so i went with the type R's:D the lowest freq they are going to get well above 100 hz, and i'll probably be running 100 watts to each mid range and each tweeter:p they are rated at 40 watts, but as long as i don't get too crazy with them, they should be alright, especially since they won't be getting low freq's, and i'll be using my audio control 4xs to select the x-over points, so i won't be using the one alpine provided;)

See, the CDT HD-62cf are now only 200$...shipped to your door. The price - quality different is pretty impressive, I think. The classics sound nice, but the carbon fibers can cover more of a range and sound warmer, especially with the silk dome tweeter that they come with.

Anywho...listen to them both...then decide. :D

how easy are the door speakers to hook up besides taking the door panel off. just plug and go?

depends....how much power are you going to run to the speakers? 55W or less then it's easy. More than that and you better take a gander at running new wire into the doors...which isn't really that hard...just a little frustrating at times, and time consuming.
