So, I was bored the other night and priced out the new Cayman S. With options it came out to just under $70K. For that price you could get the new Z-06. So, which would you choose?

I've read that the Cayman S has a weight/hp ratio of 10.8 lb/hp, but when I did the math myself, I got 10.1 lb/hp based on curb weight (2954lbs) and horsepower (295hp). The Z-06's ratio was 6.2 lb/hp (3132lbs/505hp).

But the Z-06 have the grace of the Porsche?

between the two i'd take the z06.

the cayman is good looking, but i'm a real big fan of the 911, and the cayman just looks like it got streched in the rear. to me it looks too long.

for the money, both really good cars, but i think the z06 is a much higher bang for the buck.

drew.

Both cars are hot but the 70 price tag on the Z06 is enough to sway me away. Put down for the Cayman.

I'll take the Cayman, the only alternative to the 911 that I would buy. I hate Chevy, and as much as I like the Z06, I couldn't imagine myself driving one.

the z06 is a beast and sexy as hell.

and I am more of a 911 guy

But, if i had that kind of money, I'd buy something other then a chev anyday. Matter of fact, I'd even buy something else other then the cayman.

i'm not necessarily a chevy fan, but i like to consider the corvette more than just a chevy. it's in so much higher of a class compared to the rest of the chevy fleet.

if this was a talk about the cobalt vs. this or that, then i think you can use the chevy engineering/building argument.

although the cayman doesnt have a LSD I would go for porsche. I dont like vettes...no matter how fast they are or how much HP they have. I dont like pushrod engines. I would most definately pay more for a slower higher reving car with 2 cams.

call me ignoratn or whatever, pushrod engines are the reason I dont like GM cars. Its not that I dont like domestics because I love Ford and its DOHC V8 motor in the Cobra/GT500/lighting/koeinsegg.

If you talking similar price range. For pure performance I would get a Lotus Exiege (UK version) with the SC on it. OR even better but less utility a Ariel Atom 2 which is street legal in the states. ask for a F20C or K20 in it and boom...formula ar with a high redline for fraction of a price. Even comes with a crazy race spec suspention with pushrod activated coilovers.

I'd take the Z06 hands down. One because insurance would be cheaper, be it not much but that hand the maintenance would be cheaper. Dont think for a second that you would be able to work on these kinds of cars. And they are comparing the Z06 to the Ferrari F1 and it out did that car. I think it would out do this one.
