Cargo cover is here and installed

Received it yesterday. Took almost 4 weeks. THough it was cheapest in the country, will never order from this place again.

Few thoughts:

• I hate that it is black, but I knew that when I ordered
• Quality is ok. Lower than what Subaru Outbacks have
• The flap that connects to the 2nd row headrest is cheesy
• If you put your 2nd row seats all the way back, and not use the flap, looks silly with gaps
• Overall on a scale of 1-10, I give it a 6.
• Install took 3.5 minutes.
• Make sure your rear 3rd row seat belts are clipped into the pillar clip, or it will interfere with cargo liner

Mine looks similar, but the black matches my black interior. (yes)

I usually don't bother connecting them to the headrests and just let the tabs hang, but again, the black blends with my interior.

Yeah I have your pics saved. Agree your looks better. WE have enough black interior cars, couldn't deal with heat for another. Ok got it on the letting tabs hang. Thansk

When I connect the tabs to the rear headrest posts, that flap isn't taut - - it dips down into a "U" shape - - with the rear seats fully back. I don't see any real aesthetic or security advantage to doing it that way. It's easier to just let them hang. Plus, I like to twist the rear headrests forward for a lower profile and better vision out the rear window, and whenever I twist them, the tabs fall off the headrest posts. D'oh!

I'm about to order splash guards, tailgate step plate and a Miata leather shift knob from mazdaparts.org, but if it takes 4 weeks may order elsewhere.

I ordered a bunch of goodies from Med Center mazdaparts.org today. Free shipping over $100; after checking out Tasca the price was only about $5 more. Plus they called me about 10 minutes after placing the order to ask if I wanted wiper blades for a 5 or a Miata (since I ordered a Miata shift knob and dead pedal )
Here's what's being shipped to me tomorrow:
$110 Leather Miata shift knob . Loved this on the Miata in the showroom, may have to bend the shifter rod up a bit to have a perfect angle.
$23 Aluminum dead pedal. Don't want the full set, not even sure they'd fit (not 100% sure the dead pedal will fit, but for $23 will take the chance). The aluminum will protect the carpet and add a little flash to the otherwise dark interior.
$50 Front splash guards. The rear ones don't seem like they'd do much, other than balance out the looks a bit.
$40 Rear bumper guard.
Note: the $200 "Kit" that includes front and rear splash guards, bumper guard and all weather floor mats is a good deal, IF the floor mats are nice quality. I love the Weathertech "Digifits" and wasn't sold on the rear splashguards' utility, so ordered piecemeal.

WOW you paid 109 for that shift knob? On the miata forums, many of us sold those for 20 bucks. There are 3 for sale right now, all under 30 bucks.

Looking forward to the splash guards--I think I will order them.

All I see it this one for $50, which is certainly not the same as the 2012 leather/aluminum miata knob.

Wow, you went on a spending spree! I bought a couple of stuff already for the Mazda5 too. Rear bumper protector, BumperDefender.com's color matched bumper strip for the rear, front and rear splash guards (not sure if the front will fit because mine's GT), and lastly, tailpipe finisher.

Hard to tell from the pics, but does the cargo cover mount to one of the pair of access plates one the sides? Looks like it might restrict the 2nd row recline angle unless you could mount it further back in the aft set of holes.

You can only mount it one way. Yes 2nd row recline angle is compromised, IF you have the 2nd row slid all the way back.

Well, in fact you can install the cargo cover in 2 positions. Just remove the black covers from the rear set of holes.
That's the reason those flaps are fairly long: they have to bridge the space between the cover-bar and the headrest when the cover is installed in the rearmost position.
