Carbon Fiber Hood

hmmm....i don't think that is true, because i mean hockey players snap carbon fiber stickes all the time, imagine what a car wreck will do. I may be wrong, but i do believe that carbon fiber hoods will crumple in an accident.
That all depends on the resin and how the CF is layed down. I've seen post-wreck photos on some of the CF manufacturer's web sites and the hood looks pretty intact. It also looks like it did not intrude into the passenger area, though. Maybe it flexed. I'd call or write the manufacturer if you're worried. If the hood is not street legal, they should have to tell you.

Think of it this way....you put a cf hood on your car...and your basically putting one big knife infront of you so that when you crash, it cuts off your head. Really, cf is that strong so if you crash it just gets pushed back and doesnt crumble. Theres been instances before like this on RSX boards and such. Also dont forget that your gonna wanna put pins on to hold it down. I've seen toooo many pics of hoods that fly up and smash the windshield to pieces.

If what you say is true, then that might make me rethink getting a cf hood. Course I'm not going to take your word for it, I'll definately need proof, so I'll have to be doing some research.

I'm not pulling your leg here. Theres proff around the net and its also just common sense. Thats the whole point of cf....to be extra strong but less weight.
yea, but extra strong doesnt neccesarily mean to me that it will not bend/crumple when hit with 3000lbs at 10+mph...thata quite a bit of force.
and I believe some CF hoods (typically higer end ones) are designed around using stock latched so pins are not neccesary, although on lower end hoods, pins are required (i assumed it was cuz lower end/less expensive hoods are just some ppl mickey mousin their way through it laying some CF in a mold of the stock hood whereas the more expensive ones are actually "engineered"
also for this reason I think most lower end hoods say "not for street use" so they dont have to worry about testing its strength/reliability etc.....whereas some of the higher end ones are legal
this could all be misinformation tho, so dont go plan your life by it
