Car won't start when it's warm

It started as an every now and then thing, about once a month it wouldn't start after long drives. Now after I drive for about 15 min and shut it off it won't start. The engine turns over and I get about 1k rpm, then it dies. Any ideas? I took it to the Mazda dealership and they can't find it in there little books anywhere.

i have the same problem. i have to turn the key again and hold the rpms at about a grand then once i drive it goes away. but also happens every now and then.

Is your battery light coming on when you crank the car? Might just be a loose battery connector.

not getting enough charge out of the alternator? could be the ecu, perhaps clogged catalytic converters? could be a number of things here

Never any lights thrown. Everywhere I go they say there it too much aftermarket stuff done and they aren't sure. But it could be It could be in the cat. I'm getting a full exhaust put on in two days do I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for the help.

Also, one place I took it hooked me up to a diagnostic and they said if was throwing 3 different codes for the maf. They didn't think that was the problem after some testing and cleared the codes. They never could get it to stall though. They wouldn't drive it long enough to get the engine warm.

if ur ecu is throwing 3 different codes that say the problem is ur maf sensor then why would it be anything different? what are ur mods?

I assumed it was throwing the maf codes because i have the jp fuel cut defencer. After 3 days in the shop they decided they think it is the idle motor. But not positive. For some reason the car starts up fine for them, I'm going to try one more place and see if the exhaust helps. my msp still has the stock exhaust, and the cat started rattling at the same time my car quit starting.

I don't have a tone of upgrades yet, just the fm intercooler, cold air intake, boost controller, blow off, kinda typical stuff.

got the exhaust put on this morning, the cat was fine. I think i have narrowed it down to the idle motor.

It only does it when it's warm???? that is very strange. If it was the IAC I would think it would happen no matter what. I guess it's possible that when the car is warm the heat expansion causes a sticking problem.....maybe it needs to be cleaned out...first thing I thought of was the fuel pressure check valve which circulates fuel back to the tank when the car is hot and then the FPR which regulates the fuel pressure...then the IAC...I guess investigate one thing at a time and move your way around from the easiest to the more involved stuff...
