Car stalling on cold starts

Hey guys

I have a small problem every time when I start my speed first thing in the morning. When the engine turns over it starts up but then it dies. On the second try the motor starts up with no problem and it runs all day with no problems.

Any ideas?

How cold is cold there now in Toronto? Might just be the weather, given how well it runs on the second try. What are your mods? How many miles do you have on engine? Hard to help when we know so little about your car and your conditions. More info please?

Hey, boss... mine did that the other day amidst the beautiful -12 weather we had here. -24 for you. I don't know, part of me thinks the car isn't prepared for that kind of cold and needs a 2nd start to be able to properly adjust. Maybe stalling is kind of a fail-safe.

You sure it's not happening after you start it when you let out the clutch? Mine will do that if I start it in -30 and let the clutch out. The trans oil is frozen solid and needs a gentle release after a few seconds of running.

it didnt even have to be -anything as long as it was below freezing my car would do the same thing. try turning the car
ON first then wait a minute and allow the car's computer to get everything going. then start it and just give it enough gas after start up to keep it at 1800-2000 for 30 seconds maybe and you should be fine. Otherwise i never thought anything of it cause it only happens when its cold
