Car sputters and dies. HELP

Hey guys
Last night I drove the car and hour and half no problems at all, turned it off, then went for a 30 minute drive to the store. Again no problems. Then 3 hours later I try and drive it and the car is bucking like crazy. Can't get it over 45 mpg. Jerks hard and has no power. Unable to drive it. Also when I was driving in first I had to give it a lot of gas to keep it from dying. This morning the car starts up runs for about 2 seconds then dies. Unable to even rev it. I'm lost. Any ideas?

Check engine light? If so, get a code reading on the number and report back. Chances are good that will be of enormous value in determining what the problem is.

Based on limited info, this could be any one of a dozen or more issues.

Let me begin with a simple question: Have you recently filled the car with gas or are you close to empty? Either one of those conditions could have introduced bad gas or water (water sinks to the bottom of the tank) into the fuel being sprayed by the injectors.

This is just a guess, given the number of other possibilities that can't be excluded at this point.

Not to lead you down a path of incorrect diagnosis but this is very similar to how my car behaved after I filled it with crappy gasoline. I suspect it had water in it.

Never heard back from OP. It's frustrating to offer advise or ask for more information to try to help someone and never hear back. Makes me reluctant to try to help. Feedback would have been nice. Problem was two months ago.
