Car shopping (w/ 3 kids) - CX-9 an option

I have to 2 kids who still require car seats. I found that the best way to retain a reasonably comfortable entry/exit for an adult to the 3rd row is to install the 2 car seats at the 60% portion of the middle bench (i.e. one latched at the driver side and the other one using the middle seat belt). This way the 40% seat is free to slide AND tilt. In my case, my 3rd row passengers were adults and it would be a hassle to make them go through the hatch, so this was the most viable solution.

55V8 - That's brilliant! Definitely going to look into that.

As an update, we got our Freestyle fixed. But it's a salvage yard transmission and frankly, my wife just doesn't trust it. Still looking at CX-9's and Flex's (would that be Flexes?) Just trying to find the right one at the right time.

Looking through this forum is positive though. Most forums post problem after problem, but on here, it doesn't seem to be that bad. Sure, stuff fails, but when Ferrari's are catching on fire, I guess a transmission clunk ain't that big of a deal. Thanks again for all the replies. Hopefully my next new post will be in a new owner section.

Josh, see my signature for almost no problems with my CX-9. Any I have an 08'. 2010 - present have had pretty much all the issues resolved and have outstanding reliability. I think if you are worried about maintenance/reliability, CX-9 should be right at the top of the list for you.... research about other stuff because this category is one you don't need to worry about.

The price tag of JX ranges from $40K to $54K.
I concur that the slide-forward-bottom-fold-up design is creative.
You can check out videos on youtube to see what it means.

CVT has many issues. Google it to see what owners are saying.

In the JX commercial on TV, I swear the car seat is not installed properly. I'm certain I see it move in the seat. My installation, that's not happening. But that scene goes by quick. And it's way too much for our money.
And as for the CVT. My Freestlye has one. I love it, BUT, it is very expensive to work on (or replace). Trust me!

As I suspected, the Nissan Pathfinder will also have that trick 2nd row that the Infiniti JX. Check out this video.

interesting, but not enough for me to select the Nissan. first, I would have the car a lot longer than I'd be using a child seat. second, if both sides of the 2nd row flip foward [unlike the Highlander--what is Toyota thinking??], then people accessing the 3rd row can just go in the other side. Now, if you have twins, or otherwise have 2 young-ins still in child seats, I might be swayed...
