Where is it mounted? If the MAF hasn't been relocated and the BOV is behind it, that is for sure what is causing the stalling issue. The computer thinks there is more air in the system and dumps in more fuel causing a super rich condition and then stalling.
I would definitely see if you can follow the wiring and check to see if it is connected to anything. It is unlikely that there is a fuse in the line but it is possible that there is one hiding out. Also check to see if you are getting power to the fan. A good multimeter is a wise investment when working on a car.
Best case scenario is to find out exactly why the fan was hardwired and work backwards from there. I wouldn't worry about the fan right away, concentrate on the stalling and fix that first. You can drive without a fan, given you keep moving, but you can't drive a car that won't stay running!
