Car damage from the ash???

:
10 MS3
Are there any insurance experts in here? The news just gave a report saying that our rides should be washed everyday until the ash stops falling, failure to do so will damge our paint in the long run. So my question is: Is it covered by insurance or by dealer warranty if there is paint damage in the future. It is really concerning me now, I don't have nowhere to store my poor P5 :( .

hmm....I don't think paint will be under warranty...but it might be covered by insurance, if paint went really bad by ashes.
however you will be better off with get good quality car cover from auto store.

this event would probably fall under an 'act of God'

with all the claims and losses, i doubt you would win a claim.

no dealer warranty on this. the car was made fine, but an event ruined it. think of it like you modded your car and messed it up and wanted warranty work.

whoops i havent been washing it but its been garaged, although with some ashes on it

I'll give it a wash tomorrow, and if the paint's all focked up I'll drive the car off a cliff :)

still, you'd have to pay your deductible (comprehensive) then your rates would SURELY rise. its prolly cheaper to get it re painted by mazda out of pocket in the long run!

This sucks, and I just bought a new Civic also :( , I should have waited.

The dealer probably doesn't wash their cars, either. LOL I dunno

I checked into it... the only harm is when the ashes get wet (dew at night if you park outside) and the harmful chemicals in the ashes seep into the paint. So the P5 is OK and the suburban parked in the street is probably a little damaged. I just hosed down the 'burb and it would be a good idea if the car's already gotten wet and you don't have an opprotunity to wash it fully right now.

If your car has wax on it should be fine. I rinsed mine today, and ill wash it tomorrow, but it should be fine.

Cool, so wax will help it......................**** I just clayed my s*** an dput polish but never put the wax!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
