Car Bra's: Pros and Cons

LOL @ having a bra to keep the front end cleanl and never actually getting to see it.

EXACTLY!! It's like the couch with the plastic cover. What the hell are you saving it for??

Anyway, I think clear bras are best used when a vehicle is brand new with now highway wear and super clean paint. If I went out and bought something low slung, like a G35 coupe, I think I would go directly and get the front done up.

but a fair warning, if you put the 3m s*** on a fiberglass body kit, when u go to repaint.... most body shops will order a new bumper... thats what i was told so i didnt do that to my bumper...

Sounds like they wanted to make more money and mark the new bumper up. There is no reason for that at all.

You can remove the clear bra without harming the paint IF the paintin the first place was properly prepared and of good quality.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this or not because I am too lazy to read all the replies, but I really dont see what good a bra would do. The majority of my chips are past the point where a bra would cover. Besides I have seen a few pics and they dont look too hot. Take it easy.

Do your whole hood in Clear bra like I have done then there want be that issue. FYI - That would be a custom installation and it costs more, but can be done

I repainted my car before installing my rockblocker invisible bra. I wish I could have afforded the hood at the same time as the bumper. I have a small chip in the black part of my hood.

Damn you, I told you I would hook you up and take care of you..... Come see me

The entire car?? What's the point?

So is everybody using the clear bras going & getting their bumpers/hoods painted first or do you just have bubbles in the clear stuff from preXisting chips & imperfections from having nothing?

If you get bubbles just take a needle and poke a small hole in the bubble and press the air out of the bubble.

Problem solved.

I've been using my factory bra for about 3 months. I put a good coat of eagle one wax underneath about twice a month. Then clean the bra on the inside and out. Works great and looks awesome.
Cheers

Me too....I actually use a P5 Bra on my MSP...

The point would be for chips in the hood and to save the CF from fading.

What would be an avg. install cost for something like this?

If anything I would go with the clear bra....had a factory bra for my '95 Neon and had small patches of 'fogging' where the hood met the grill. Even though I took it off for the winter season and removed the bra once a week, when I washed the car.

The whole can depend on the installer. The hood piece I can get u for $200. Being in the Bay that is going to hurt. The installers there charge more than anyone where else. Prolly another 200-300 for the install is my best guess. (guess is highlighted)

So, we're talking 400-500 to rockblock an entire hood? Pay more than whatever something is worth to protect it? Insurance industry infiltration tactics. Would it even cost that much to just have the whole hood repainted? That sounds pretty crazy. Can I do the windshield too, for around 750-800 maybe?

Remember I said the Bay area is the most expensive. We do entire hoods here for $300 so come on over. IMHO, better than repainting since it would be time without the car, color match issues and quality issue with repaint.

Did I mention it helps with brakepads too. Got hit by a brakepad that fell off someones Acura TL at 85 mph skipped across my hood and smashed my windshield and trim around it.

My other car is done on the windshield.

I was just messin with ya a bit. Seriously, I would like to have whole front of car done at some point. Bumper, fogs, headlights, mirrors, some or all of hood & windshield. Probably not all at once & it is climbing the mod priority chart.

What about doing it yourself with a Pro Heatgun? Have done BlueBatMobile overlays before...they came out alright...
