Car bottoms out on small bumps

(help) I have a 2005 2.3s 4dr with 17's. It seems that whenever I go over a low spot on the road or pull into parking garages that have the drainage ditches my car bottoms out. It is really bad when there are passengers in the back seats. I can't see anything underneath that would be hitting except a piece of metal near the rear passenger hub that looks like a U-bolt. I haven't had the time to get it on a lift or to the dealership to be looked at. Any idea?

Well, I have lowered my car with sportlines, and since, I have bottomed out on several speed bumps at my school. God knows WHY speed bumps need to be that tall. Anyway, I have looked under mine and see no damage to anything but a little skid plate looking thing. i am not an expert on the underneath of my car, but I think its fine.

For the love of God....

...please don't tell me the roads in Jacksonville are that bad. I'm about to move there. 42 days and a wake up. (confused)

aren't you all going to be glad i have done some reading about techinical service bullitens (tsb) for our cars lately.... there is a tech service bulliten out for that exact issue, it is the passenger side rear tire rubbing on some plastic that is to close when there is a load in the car or in cornering "activities"...(drivers like us!!!)

the number is TSB# 09-018/04

Thanks for the info

I am in San Diego right now about to drive back to Jacksonville. The roads out here are much bumpier than Jax. The TSB was for the 5 dr but I will mention it to the dealer this week. I have the 4dr. Thanks for the help though, it may be the same problem.
