car alarm

So i've had my viper car alarm installed for a few years now, and I recently noticed that alarm will not trip. I remember when it was new, it was fairly sensitive. Now, I can beat n bang on the windows, doors, etc... and the alarm never trips. The only thing that will trip the alarm is if I open my door using the key. I have not adjusted or touched the alarm in the past til recently. I adjusted the sensitivity all the way up and still the alarm does not trip. Has my alarm brain gone bad or something?

I checked the ground wire, it looked good and was secured. I even moved the ground. Nothing changed

depending on the alarm, the shock sensor may be located in the brain, but no, they are not the same thing. typically they are seperate so you can put the shock sensor in a location where it'll read better, and put the brain somewhere safe and out of the way.

So i've read around and it appears the shock sensor is built into the main unit. If I replace the main unit(brain) will it need any programming or could I just plug in all my current wiring and be set?

Ok, new twist. I sat inside my car and set the alarm. I banged on the dash, alarm went off. Banged on the center console, alarm went off. Tapped on the brain, alarm went off. Hmm. Do I need to mount the brain in a different location seeing how it seems to still be working but just not picking up any outside vibrations?

try mounting it someplace more solid... if that doesn't do it, there should be an adjustment to turn the sensitivity up.

Its mounted under the dash to a metal frame bar, so its pretty solid. The sensativity is already turned up all the way

one bolt/screw. I'm not even sure how they were able to mount it. I don't see how I could get a screwdriver or wrench in there to even remove it. Its in a very tight/akward spot
