2014 CX5 Touring AWD
Hello,

I'm a newbie here so, be gentle. I've had a 2014 CX5 Touring AWD (no extras) for about a month. I have a Galaxy S3 paired with it. Today upon leaving work I hit the voice recognition button to tell it to make a call for me. Instead of making a call, it errored out telling me that there was no phone connected. At that point the volume for the radio was completely turned off (as it does when you make calls), and I can't get it to turn back on. When I turn the volume knob it's adjusting the speech and voice prompt volume rather than the audio volume. I've tried turning the car off and on, pairing and unpairing the phone, etc. Nothing works. The dial > hangup > and speech recognition buttons all currently do nothing.

I dug through the manual and I can't figure out how to reset the thing completely. I'm hoping there is a solution other than disconnecting the battery or something.

Thanks!

That's a pretty serious glitch if it doesn't default back to regular operating mode when you turn off the car.

Did you turn off the car for a few minutes and try? I seem to remember something with the other audio problems where there is certain period of time after the car is turned off that if you turn it back on it can resume properly. Worth trying at least.

If that doesn't work you can try disconnecting the battery too.

If it comes down to removing power from the radio, I'd be inclined to pull the radio fuse rather than disconnect the battery and reset all the systems in the whole car.

When I went back to my car after about 45 minutes it had reset and was working fine again. I'm glad to see your post confirming it's normal for it to reset after a while and not immediately. The first time I tried it I literally just turned the car off and then back on about 15 seconds later. It is a pretty major glitch. I normally don't try to make a phone call for about 30 seconds after I get in the car to allow it to sync up with the phone first - usually if I try immediately it just says there is no phone connected.

Thanks!
