Can you remove the battery without pulling the strut brace?

Just like it says: Can you remove the Protege5 battery without pulling the strut brace? If so, do you then have to remove the air box? What's the quickest way to get the battery out of there.

Thanks,

Eric

the strut brace comes out VERY easily... taking the air box out would be a lot bigger job. 4 nuts on the brace, a nut and a bolt on the hold-down, the terminals, and you're done.

Really, is this a serious question? Seriously its not like a bleeping stratus where you have to take the wheel off to get to the battery.

Try a stock Jaguar XK140 - you had to pull the motor to change the battery. A lot of them ended up with doors cut into the side of the car to provide access to the battery.

I've been able to pull my battery out with a Cusco strut bar installed, so it's possible. I have a bit more room around there because I don't have the stock airbox, so that may have made it possible. Was able to slide in a new bigger battery too, so it can work.

You could've removed the strut brace in the time it took you to ask this question.

Other people could look at this if they had this question later on down the road though. He may not have been in the process of replacing his battery while posting this ya know?

removing the strut bar is the easiest way
like I said... common sense

Ok, and that's all he was asking quit being a know it all! jeez you'd think the poor guy was asking to borrow off ya. And if you don't like it just don't click into the link. I know you do put out alot of good stuff, but heck it's almost not worth it since it's like pulling teeth and everyone gotta pat your back and tell you you're a great smart guy afterwards. I'm saying this not to be a pri%ck myself and I will say I have really benefited from quite a few of your posts, but the guy did have a valid question.

I learned from this and I consider myself to have some sense, just new like him. I would have been scared to pull the strut bar off till I read this.

TheMAN's pretty set in his ways. You just gotta take the useful info and gloss over the rest.
