Can you overfill the manual transmission?

So, is it possible to overfill the manual transmission fluid? Or once the tranny is full with the recommended fluid amount, will it come out the fill plug hole?

I'm just wondering because I changed the tranny fluid in my M6 S last night and my son kicked an open oil container and dumped some of the oil on the ground. I guestimated how much was wasted, but I'm not 100% sure. So I do not know exactly how much fluid was put in the tranny, it is close, but not exact.

It would come out the fill hole when full.

yes, fill till it starts to seep out the fill hole. then you'll know its full.

when i did the tranny fluid on mine the mechanic full it by the speed sensor, is that ok?
