Can you buy a CX5 with...

Not yet, but at 76k miles, I'm keeping options open for when I near 100k. On the fence about trading. Also looking at cars like the wrx, but it gets slower each year. For 2018, it's similar to the forester 2.0xt. No lie.

If you want a fast WRX, you need to get the STI. Saw one at the dealer last weekend. $38500.00 sticker price. The dealer wouldn't lower the price. Manual transmission only on the STI, the WRX is available with automatic.

I'd want a manual if I got a car. Even the sti isn't very fast, and no-one I know who owns them likes the handling. A friend of mine just sold his and was very negative about it. He is pretty objective, owned a modded miata (track mostly, could be dailied), full spohn suspension Fbody, etc. Also as you noted the price is not in line with anything about the car.

If the sti could be equipped with an engine made in the current decade, without turbo lag, that got over what, 23mpg for a measly 305 or so hp...I would consider it. The numbers are all crap though, and the intangibles seem to suck, too.

Hell, if the Mazda 3 hatch came with a turbo and awd and a slick 6 speed manual...I'd be looking hard!

Miata might come with 181 hp in 2019. Roof wont leak ... Guaranteed.

If this is about sunroof leaks, wouldn't opening and closing every little while would ensure the seals are still good (aka not stuck) and the mechanisms for opening and closing are working so it seals correctly (uhm)

Sunroofs don't leak, can we move on? LOL. Every car I've had except the first 3 had a sunroof. 0 leaks. That's 5-0.
A ridiculous reason to not buy one.
It removes about 2 inches of headroom. That's the only reason to not get one.

I can imagine sun roof leaking on a 10+ year old car but still being so expensive to fix that it would make it worthless.

It also adds weight, can cause noise from wind or rattle, and reduces the stiffness of the unibody. Plus, your 6 year old may badger you about opening it when you don't want it open. I'd probably prefer a moonroof only, one that doesn't open

Yes, and aftermarket is a different story. Shops often have to cut out a support - the reason the factory didn't add the sun/moon roof in the first place. Those are a bad idea, even with a guarantee against leaking.

I can't. My cars were not young. Leaky sunroofs are just not that common.

Never had any cause noise or rattle.

#SunroofsForEVAR!
