My problem is that i want to know exactly whats happening when a modded ms3 hits fuel/boost cut. I want to try and figgure out the best way to solve this issue but it seems that no one knows what is actually happening when this problem occurs... or when the car all of a sudden studders and looses power. Can someone please tell me if its FUEL CUT , BOOST CUT or THROTTLE CLOSING????? Everyone seems to have a different answer and a different solution so im still confused on the best way to solve this problem. Some say get a boost cut eliminator, some say get a fuel cut defender and some say you cant do s*** cause its probabaly the ecu closing the throttlebody to protect the motor. WHAT THE HELL IS IT!?!?!?!!?!?(stoned)

Boost cut: Exceed 18psi for longer than a couple seconds. Map realizes it, shut off throttle

Fuel cut: Deman for fuel surpasses what the stock pump can deliever. Injectors try to stay open longer which drops fuel pressure, the car begins to stutter, eventually backfire and if you're really pushing it, it will shut the throttle one you.

Fuel Solution: Buy a pg fuel pump, or cpe's fuel pump if you want to wait and pay more.

Boost Solution: atp bcd or a map clamp, or a ems system if you feel like spending money.

He probably wont need to bother with an EMS & a tune at this point. These guys are running fine with 18 PSI and a BCD with a new pump.

hey bud iv'e been meaning to talk to you about that, i was told a while back that a bigger than normal maf housing will cuase really bad fuel cut. didn't this start after you installed your orielly home made intake?

does anyone know for sure that lack of fuel volume is the culprit of fuel cut?? i did turn my boost controller down abit and havent had fuel cut sense. it was cutting because for some reason i was holding 19 psi for most of the rpms, everytime it did that it would fuel cut. turned the BC down and now the car feels stronger at 17-18 psi again with no fuel cut. because of this i highly doubt that a fuel pump will fix this issue, seems to be related to overboosting rather than running out of fuel.

17 PSI should not hit fuel cut. 18 PSI will as loosh pointed out. Regardless, you should get a fuel pump to see the true potential of this car. Get a BCD for protection. If you made a homemade intake with a new maf pipe, than expect problems Nig.

Insert immature racial comment here: You said nig LOL ok im done.

as for the pump, you need a way to see you fuel pressure, if its dropping, your running out of fuel.

Well the EMS is going to be the safest way to go that way his boost spikes will be under control. There's someone that was running 18psi with the bcd and a mbc and he cracked a piston or a rod, I can't remember which one, but that was a huge repair bill that was out of his pocket.

I did state a new pump should be added. He definately leaned out by cracking that piston. I think a EBC would be the smarter way to go though, since most of the MBC's out there can spike.
