Can any shops on here build a twin scroll exhaust manifold?

Trying to see who can, and what kind of price we are looking at. Im thinking about putting a twin scroll 30R on the mazdaspeed 6...

The goal is to run a twin scroll 30R or 35R off a big tmic

So im assuming i would need a custom dp, turbo inlet and manifold...

Any input?

Forzda and Dr. D run some pretty wild stuff I wanna say. They may have some input on this. I would also be interested in finding this information out. There are ways to stretch the RPM band on this car (as well as its efficiency at those RPMs). Essentially, lessening the penalty of a BIG turbo under twin scrolling conditions will stretch it both ways.

Honestly, with Corksport being the Mazda-specific shop they are, you might try them to see what they can come up with. Probably isn't going to be cheap, but you may entice them with a Group Interest/Group Buy to reduce the overall price.

good info... i'll see what they say. Im also going to call a local speed shop. Btw, where can i source an exhaust manifold flange that will bolt up to the head for fabrication?

obx makes one for these cars

but does it fit? Usually OBX is garbage (smash)

just spoke with speedfab and they said its going to depend on how tight the manifold is... he also said twinscroll is pointless :(

pretty much said its not going to do anything, but they can build the manifold no problem.

takes a few weeks to do, depending on whether or not they have to pull the motor. gave me a price of 600 to 1600 depending on the difficulty

let me ask this... can any fabrication shop build a top mounted turbo that will work with the stock location tmic?

Twin scroll isn't pointless. But honestly, you may be best off to do the engineering work yourself (within reason) and draw something up with the proper dimensions and a bill of material on what sizes and types of pipe and flanges you're looking for. You could probably save a lot of money that way, too.

ok, just located this one ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-...id=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65:12|39:1|72:1171

This manifold is made to fit an IHI VF36/37 which is a JDM factory subaru twin scroll turbo... the problem with this is... a VF36/37 is ungodly expensive because its rare and it would require a custom downpipe using the IHI flange... it can be done for not "that much" money but its a bit more of a headache than it needs to be.... plus, an IHI vf36/37 is only good for about 330whp, even with twin scroll... the SST k04's are doing that just fine for a lot less...

im thinking twin scroll manifold w/ 30R in a ram horn style manifold

I certainly hope that if you intend on doing this, you also intend on beefing up your bottom end as well.

Not criticizing or s*** talking, just being realistic. Sounds like a killer idea though. I know it's been done with great success in the SRT-4 Community, but those motors can handle 470whp on stock internals.

i definitely agree... some bottom end work will be in the works. from what i understand, stock rods are the first thing to take a poop and go out around 370whp...

or is it a bit lower than that?

370 sounds about accurate. However, the balance shaft delete kit as well as reducing rotating mass all-together may help it last a little longer.

balance shaft deletes, these are also on my list of things to do...

what else would reduce rotating mass? Lighter flywheel? crank pulley?

If i recal, a think cp-e has a lighter crank pulley... anyone tried it?

The lighter flywheel and crank pulley are what I had in mind. I think PG has a lighter crank pulley on their site for the MS6.

would a lightweight fly and a pulley throw a misfire or CEL?

back to the original topic... is their any manifold on the market that has a t3 flange? or is it all just stock mz3/6 flanges???

I can't answer your second question. However, for your first question: I haven't seen anything related to a misfire or CEL from those two modifications. Provided the pulley is the same outer diameter as the stock one, the car shouldn't even recognize that it or the flywheel is different.

i remember the early model subaru's had a second crank sensor that would throw a CEL if you have a lightweight fly and crank pulley

That's the first I've heard of such blasphemy!

Back to that twinscroll, was the one from OBX on eBay decided to be a good part? Does anyone know of any MS3 or MS6 guys with any OBX stuff?

Call Ken at PG they have a T3/T4 Turbo Package for our cars now..

heres the link for it..

i believe the price for the full kit would be around $1500-$1600.

How many pounds of boost can you run before you get the "DANGER TO TEH MANIFOLD!!1" warning?

Seriously though, I'm pushing 22 pounds as-is and understand that K04 is workin a little too hard. I'm just wondering as the turbo gets bigger, just how much boost those connecting rods can take.

i would say no for 2 reasons...

A. the VF36/37 turbo required for that flange is small 330whp max (u may be able to substitute an HKS3071 twin scroll from japan but they cost 3k, or an AVO twin scroll unit from Austrialia... those are 2k+). But ya, not a good flange choice.

B. OBX in the past has had numerous fitment issues on headers and downpipes and i personally would not trust them again (my dp didnt fit and it was sold to me by that tuning-depot place - scam artists)
