Camshaft differences

I want to buy the J-Spec intake camshaft and the Mazdaspeed exhaust camshaft. When I look at it how I can difference the stock intake camshaft and the J-Spec one or the stock exhaust camshaft and the Mazdaspeed one.

Thanks

It would be easier perhaps to get a pulley for the intake cam. It it dificult to put one on the exaust one as the cam postition sensor is driven from it.

A pulley would let you make adjustments as often as you like. When the Cover is off you could cut the back side of the "Hump" that covers the timing off so that you can adjust it without removing the cover and replacing the gasket every time you want to try a new adjustment.

Hope it helped, sorry I couldn't get you any info on your original question.

first of all, there is only 1 set of cam pulleys on offer - tripoint, and they work on both intake and exhaust.

difference in cams. the cam pin. it is apx 180 degrees opposite. if you lay the cams side by side and have the pins at the top of the cam, the intake lobe closest to the pin will face to your left, the exhaust love closest to the pin will face to your right.

is that what you're wanting to know???

Thanks for the info, but the question was how I can differentiate the stock camshaft (intake or exhaust) from the aftermarket one (J-spec intake camshaft or mazdaspeed exhaust camshaft).

I already have the J-spec intake camshaft and one cam gear from Tripoint for the intake and I just bought the Mazdaspeed exhaust camshaft from xoom xoom.

Check your pms as it was shipped! I would have liked to keep it but things come up, I hope you injoy, the two cams toghter are supposed to be quite a boost in power.

opposite pins i beleive is the only way because the mazdaspeed exhaust is basically a modified jspec intake cam. they both should have FSH9 marked on them.

stock exhaust is FSD7, your stock intake is FS1G

anyway, just keep the stock and aftermarket cams separate

I received my exhaust camshaft and I have verified for the FSH9 engraved but I don't see anything on my J-Spec intake and Mazdaspeed exhaust camshaft.

if the cams dont have any markings, the only way you can really tell what you've got is to measure them. have the markings been filled off?

The exhaust camshaft is brend new from xoom xoom and the intake camshaft bought from SedanMan has been used for 1 month , nothing has been filled off.

Also..the lobes are a bit more pointy on the aftermarket cams. I noticed that when I saw the stock and the jspec cams side by side. They are a little shorter too which holds the valves open longer I think..I might be wrong.
