Okay, I was at a 1/8th mile track last night with friends to witness some good old drag racing. Now this night was filled with mostly domestic beasts....everything was cool until the announcer guy says "Who wants to see 140 mph!?!?!"...out comes this beautiful 69 Camaro with all the drag goodies...then came a lethal sound as the car warmed up the slicks.....WOOSH.......WOOSH...yes...those sounds could only mean one thing...twin turbo V8...that sweet machine proceeded to do the fastest run I've ever seen to date on a 1/8th mile track...he reached 140 mph...and that was after a rough start...it was amazing how fast the car went after half track when the turbos hit....almost liked it was being sucked into a black hole.
The fastest time it ran that night was in the mid to low 4s.
I love the sound of those turbos
They have a great variety of machines at this track...imports, domestics, race bikes...it's just street legal drags (every Thursday)...great fun.
Area 51 had a Lexus drag car...but it ran like crap...guess they havent worked out all the bugs.
