do any of your heat shields hit the plastic inner fender.. i have been noticeing a noise when i hit bumps and i have narrowed it down to the heat shield hitting the plastic iner fender..

thinkin about just converting it to SRI....

I had this happen and that is not what you are hearing. It is the cross piece that allows the nipple of the filter cage to sit in. The welds are some stupid pressure type and they break. Mine broke so I got 2 very small nuts and bolts then drilled a hole to re attach it. Now there is no risk of it coming loose again and that noise will go away. It is simply the broken side tinging against the metal housing.

Not sure why you would ever want a SRI if you have a CAI but thats your call. To even get a proper SRI you would need to add the new air deflector box being spoken about in the other thread but then you have a more expensive CAI that possibly has the advantage of easier access and thats it.

hm.. ok, ill have to take the shield off to get to it, i was going by lookin from top of the engine bay, didnt actually take it apart..

Yeah I did the same but once I wedged my arm in there I could feel that cross section hanging on by one side only.

I bet it is broke loose so just bolt it back on and it wont ever come back off. Just do a filter cleaning while you are in there to save time later.
