Surely you've seen the ad at the mazdasouth.com web site? They are advertising, under their weekly specials, a 2005 MSM for $20,995. Last week it was $19,995. I'm sure they would give it to you for $20K without too much work, I would pick it up but: 1) My wife would not like me extending my car payments even though she'd "look cute in it", 2) my friend would kill me cause he and I just spent 15 hours deadening, putting a complete system in my MSP, and installing 1stys grounding kit.

Bah. I asked them about the MSM's. They said that they've only had one in the lot and it just sat there so they sold it to a Austin dealership. I asked them if they could get ahold of any more and they said "We can but they just don't seem to sell." I laughed at him and said "You get one, and you just made a sale."

But then again I am thinking about the stock turbo. Do I really want to deal with it? Turbo is something I don't really want to have because of all the problems you run into. Eh. It's kinda weird, but when I got the 01 I was like "I just can't do that to that little car.." You find out how much that MSM is and PM me some information. I can't deal with too much money. Heh. The 2005 was marked at 24 and I laughed at him and as soon as that happened I got the "But we can work on it." talk. So, I'll have to wait it out and see what happens. I'd much rather have the regular ole' MX-5 than a MSM but if I can snatch a MSM I might as well go for it.

Then I am stuck with the 2001. That's what made the deal so sweet here, they were going to do a simple trade-off. I'd be more than happy to call and see if I can arrange the same deal as I was trying to do here, either way they win in the situation since my 2001 is only worth about 10k.

I can't just say "Oh, nice car I want to buy!#%" I have to think about the car I am paying for now. It has to go somewhere, I can barely make it with the one I have now much less two of them, but that'd be pretty sweet if that could workout. So there is my main hurdle in this whole situation, I either need to find a solid buyer for the 2001 or I need to do a trade with the dealership.

PS: that's a really hot MSM you got there, Sb00. ;]

Ditto. Ti Gray is the s***. I was supposed to get an MSP that color, but the dealership sold it an hour before I took my dad back to fill out the paperwork.

ever get that information?

Ah see.. I missed that. I didn't realize that was the deal you had struck. I don't see you getting anywhere near 10K on a trade-in for your current Miata. Your best bet would be to sell it privately. You won't save on the sales tax like you would with a trade-in, but at the same time you won't get bent over a barrel on what they give you you for your current whip.

BTW, based on 42K miles and assuming excellent condition for a regular old 5-speed MX5 you are looking at a shade under 9K trade-in (KBB value). Not sure what you owe on it now, but just something to consider.

i am fully aware that if i deal with a trade-in i will only get about 8500 for the car. which is a sad story because i paid well over that. but i'm willing to take it if i can get what i want. i would sell it privately but these things do not sell around here. no one wants any. the ones at the lot have been sitting there for months and he said no one has even asked about them, just the "that's a nice looking car, but not what i want" kinda thing. so feel kinda stuck with the with the miata if i were to do a private sell. so trade in seems to be my only options unless i can really get down and dirty with advertising.

thanks for the compliments guys!! I <3 my MSM ;)

i need to run back out to red rock and get some new pics with the rollbar now installed!

if it helps any prospective buyers i bought mine last november, sticker was 28k i walked out the door paying 22k and they gave me 12k on my trade in (03' Honda Civic Si)

it will be hard to upgrade to another new car after my msm without spending $45K+ the only car i would consider buying new would be an elise ;) or a used 03 S2000

alright it's late and i work in the mornin :) i'll try sticking around here some more ;)

good save. mine was marked at 14 and i got them to run down to 12500. heh, it still wasn't worth the 12500 i spent, but now that i look at it but damnit i am just so impatient with things i saw what i wanted and i wanted it now.

Good luck...post up pics when you bring it home ;)

good luck with getting your msm. i am gonna try and go back to miami if the miata i was looking at wasnt destroyed. it looks like i will be selling some more parts and paying off a decent bit on my car so maybe i can get the payments on the miata down to what i want. hopefully they arent selling many cars after the hurricane.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

only downside to driving an MSM is that the normal miata suddenly seems to be lacking in a few departments ;)
