Check out this month's Sport Compact magazine there is a buyers guide on miatas. It really has helped.

pretty sure its base.. i didnt notice if it had leather or not..just ran in.. checked it out, came home to pick up the gf cause she is the one that wants the miata.

just did the basic carfax thing.. it says there are 6 records. anyone got a carfax account?

just have the dealer pull the report for you. they have accounts and are usually pretty good about letting you see it if you ask.

k.. talked them down to like.. $15,600 or somethign out the door.. taxes, doc fees etc.

montly payments will be around $290 at 72 months, 8% interest.

alternatly, there is a 2001 sea green(?) automatic miata, white leather, 56k miles passenger side seat has tears, soft top has tears, small time dealer. he wants $9500 something..

2001, besides the appearance, body damage.. car runs fine. shifts kinda hard. I checked the atf and its all burnt. needs a flush badly. drove it around.. it actually picks up faster than my p5.. kinda pissed me off. feels nice and stiff.. wind going through your hair doing 60 kinda puts a new feel on things.. still.. want the hard top option.

I don't really have an opinion one way or the other on the '04. However, I'd definatly skip the 01. Additionally, skip any subsequent Miata's with an AT as it takes half of the fun out of the car .

i would definately not go for the 2001.

soft tops are expensive.
it's a automatic.
seats are not cheap either.

(depends on the tears/rips and how bad they are)

it also seems to not be in that great condition body wise. i mean, you mentioned the top having a tear and the seat, but now body damage? bleh.

i'd stick with the '04, no doubt.

18's are looking kind of nice on miatas.

isn't the ride total hell for you guys?

some of the ride quality was compromised. but I did get a little wider tire which is always fun. however, the big factors that made it worth while was a) the price, just under 1100 for everything installed
b) the look
c) difference, everyone puts 14 to 16 inch rims for autox, rarely do you see 18s on a miata.

The good outweighed the bad, so what the hell I thought.

*angry* k.. came back from the dealer.. apparently they are full of s***. loan was turned down by the bank which yesterday cleared the loan.. they are trying another bank and will get back to me tomorrow..

the damn finance manager tried to jack the price back up but i caught him.. i should have made a scene..
