Cali Laws....

if you're not a california resident you're not going to need to register your car in california, which means you won't have to pass the cali emissions test :)....... :( bad news is since your car is going to be registered on a military base you're going to have to pass the base emissions standards, at least thats how Camp Pendleton works, Travis AFB might be different. i don't think the base emissions are as hard as california state emissions. i really have no clue though, i know that when i got my emissions test just for the base it was $20-$30 cheaper to test just for the base and not for California state... i really have no clue why it would be cheaper unless they don't do as many tests... any MP's out there or mechanics that know? I'm a Texas resident living here in CA BTW.

hey, im going to be going out to cali for school...VERY soon, august to be exact and driving out from washington DC. i will be going to school for 3-4 years... would i have to register my car? or get stickers? plates? emmissions? let me know and thanks! i will prob see you all around at some of the meets....just look for the VA plates! ha ha
 
if you do register it out here youll have to pass our smog test and visual. You can also keep it registered in D.C. if you plan on going back there after school, but youll have to drive back there to get it registered when yours is up
