Calgary Where to.

There's nothing wrong with the all-seasons you can buy. Bobby at Tunerworks is probably talking about Pirelli P7000 (which are what I bought) as opposed to some cheaper all-season at speedtech. I think in Calgary all-seasons are a good idea. We had a few snow storms in early May, and LOTS of people already had their rims on...and it's not like having the all-seasons have affected my abilities to take corners ar 100k+

Oh..and kona...get 18s!

Well I've made some decisions. I am for sure getting the rims and tires at Tunerworks. Bobby is quite simply the best when it comes to customer service. When you have two different people quoting a 70 dollar price difference for the same tire, which work at the same place (speedtech), you will lose business.

What I have to decide on is either Enkei RS7's in a 18" or Enkei RPM2's in a 17.

Nice choices. What offset can you get those in? The rubbing gets really annoying really fast...so steer clear of +42 in an 18x7.5".

They are both 45's. The 17" will fit with no rubbing, for the 18" - 48 is recommended so it might. All I know is, I will not roll my fenders.

Has anyone dealt with BigWheelz in Calgary? I emailed them and their initial quote was over $250 less than both SpeedTech and Tunerworks. BUT Speedtech said they could match that price.

My concern with getting a summer tire as opposed to the all season is mainly durability and also crazy calgary weather. How much of a difference in durability is there between all season and summer tires? Also, as NetGuy said, there are freak storms in May (or even July) that I want to be able to handle.

yeah Bobby at tunerworks in south gave me a good deal on a 5zigen gunmetal 17" rims and low profile tires for $1100 , but i have no money yet...

FYI, for those who are looking for a high performance A/S tire check out the Falken Ziex 512's or even better the Michellin Piolt Sport A/S'

For those who want to run their wheel/tire combo into late fall & put 'em on early spring.

We've had very good results with running the Ziex on Subarus :)

Kona Bear - If you're going w/ +45mm offset, make sure you check the actual tread width. A +45mm will limit you to tire choices.

Ideally if you want to auto-x etc, get a set of 16" Rota Slipstreams (~11-12lbs/wheel).

Not too many "light" 17 or 18" wheels unless you wanna pay the big bucks. (not to mention that braking performance on 18's are worse then 17" wheels (given the stock brakes).

Thanks for the advise Jack. I agree with what you are saying and plan on getting some other light rims and tires early next year for just auto x-ing. The one's I am getting now are for daily driving/shows, stockers are for winter and like I said up above a racing set is in the works for next year. Wow with all the different types of wheels I am going to need a trailer!!
