ok, why would cai cause the check engine light to come on?? with stock intake it is fine, no lights.. with it on i get system to lean bank 1

MAF sensor and oxygen sensor bank 1 was changed, and i just got the maf changed under warrenty again

I was watchin speed channel and they were sayin that a problem with cai is if the sensor isnt placed right it will mess stuff up.

Could this be my problem that they screwed up on my intake?

and btw its a injen copy ebay cai... so if any body has a true injen, i would apreciate a picture of the location and angle they put there MAF

thanx shane

When I had my injen cai on my 1.6 it was nothing but problems the whole time I had it. Went through 2 MAF with the intake system, car stuttered, CEL always stayed on. CEL made me so sick I finally removed the bulb in the cluster. Overall the cai was not worth the hassle IMO. But on the bright side it did look good in the engine bay and did go "psss psss."

i just put my stock back on, it makes more power, pulls harder and no light..
only plus of the cai was the sound and look, both of wich i loved...

I have the same problem, but what I did was to place the filter roght after the sensor, or make it into a short ram. doing this removed all that stuff.

I've heard about that with the 1.6L's. My buddy had one and had nothing but problems with his CAI. Get an SRI or something basic..

you think it the air is too cold for the censor or something?? and where to place the sri ?? i have that coolant jug that would be ontop of the filter even with it moved out the way..

No I don't think it has anything to do with temperature..I think it was something about pressure (not that there would be much anyway)..I honestly don't know. I drove his 1.6L with the injen and the first thing I said was the throttle response was horrible and it was extremely boggy. (boggy?)

this is my current setup. I never thought about it, but it could be something to do with pressure.

the picture is huge (no 56k), just installed window again and can't resize.

ok , i got mine setup like that, no check engine light so far.. only put 10 miles on it though.. i noticed too, the powerband is sooo much different, you dont get power until 3k were as with stock you got it from 1.5k but loose it at 4.5k

and as for the turbo, i want to buy my friends protege in may before i turbo, she has the 5 speed, and ill get the car from her for about 1500, swap and give the car to my girlfriend.. thats why i am not turboed, i refuse to turbo my automatic..

so far no problems, here is what mine looks like..
