WOOO HOOOO!!! GOOBLE, GOOBLE motha fookers!! Man, thanks to some help from a few buddies (ONRAILS, StreetMafia and myself) i installed my CAI yesterday, I LOVE IT! I have never heard a more beautiful sound in my life (shocked) Just thought id share the latest love of my life!!! GOOBLE GOOBLE!!!

Lately they've been going for about $240-250. I got mine used from a guy on the boards for a lot less. I'm not sure about the official gaines, but I got mine to go with the FMIC I'm getting.

lol
i love how people react the first time they install a CAI :D

sorry for this threadjack but do any of u almost stall after revving it to 4000~5000 rpm and putting the gear in neutral? Its like the same issue with bovs that vent to atmosphere. any suggestions what might be the problem? thanks.

congrats with the intake. the turkey is cool (2thumbs)

LOL, I would try not dropping it into gear @4-5k, or you'll soon be adding to the "WTF, my engine blew" thread.

^^^^I would try reading before replying to a post. He said he put it into neutral at 4-5k not putting it into gear. So there will be no problems with his engine blowing. Just his brakes will wear faster if he is throwing it into neutral and braking.

It sounds like common sense but check your connections. I'll bet when the engine flexes on the mounts under load and between shifts it's flopping a coupling open letting out air throwing the MAF out of whack. Really check the lower connection closest to the turbo. That is a common one to not be installed correctly.

what kind of CAI do u have?

if it's injen, it might be defective.
OR
u installed the MAF backwards.

if it's some other CAI...home-made, then you are recirculating too close to the MAF.

let us know what kind of cai it is, and if possible take pics.

i purchased mine from apex and it cost me $248 for EVERYTHING......as for the HP gains, supposedly you get roughly 5-7 hp gain......according to dyno numbers.......but who realy knows?

hmm, thats a good suggestion. At first, i thought it was the recirculation piping but after numerous times retightening it, i think its the lower coupling. so i should jus retighten the lower connection closest to the turbo?

its not injen, its aem. i don't think i installed the maf backwards...looks jus the way it is in the instructions they sent with the cai.

thanks for the input!

yo ricenoodles,
my friend prototyped the AEM.
it, just like the injen, initally had the stalling issue.
the kit they sent you, does it relocate the BPV vertically?
or does it use the stock horizontal location of the BPV.

the updated kit has the PBV vertically.
it goes:
upper IC pipe > rubber hose > 90-degree elbow > rubber hose > BPV > rubber hose > 90-degree elbow > rubber hose > intake.

it's the one where the bpv is vertical. it is exactly the way u described it. Well if both cais initially had the stalling issue, ill prolly jsu wait it out n retighten everything again. thanks!

when i did mine, i didn't tighten the PBV fully and it ended up blowing atmospheric and stalling, for the initial drive. so be weary that everything is tight and that your vacuum hoses are good.

no, the second kit fixed the stalling issue (if installed properly ;))
just make sure that all those connectors arround the BPV are tight.
AEM is a good unit.
