After years of searching and trying different things I finally got rid of that nasty hesitation 1.6 l engines experience especially when upshifting quickly.
The problem starts because there is a faster movement of air through the air flow sensor, and the ECU is not progammed for that, so when you close the throttle and open it up again the amount of air that enters the engine exceeds the amount of fuel the injector delivers.
The cure is to improve the air fuel mixture. You can do that by increasing the amount of fuel (by larger injectors or more fuel pressure), or reprogramming the ECU (both solutions are expensive because of the parts required and because of less gas mileage), or by making the air that enters the engine more useful by fitting a turbonator or something like that.
In my case the solution came free, there was one of those things lying around in a friends garage, so I took it, place it and WOW!!! SMOOTH SHIFTING!!!! at any speed to any gear in any circumstance!!!!
Now I have no hesitation, more HP and an improved gas mileage!!! These things cost less than $70 and if you ask me week ago I would have payed a lot more for curing that &#$%#@ hesitation
