CAI(Cold Air) or SRI(Short Ram) Intake

I recently just make up my mind to get my car a little extra boost...
But I am thinking about the Weapon R SRIntake or the Injen CAIntake....
Weapon R cost around $190 and the Injen cost around $260----
Any suggestion which was is better???

I would say the Injen, because I truly believe it's the best, and I have one. Best fit, and proven horsepower.

But... you'll get tons of arguments on this one, this subject has been argued here over and over.

A. Those prices are too high, look harder (check the for sale section).
B. I have a CAI, love it. From what I hear, CAI is a bigger overall gain, SRI is better low end.
C. There are a trillion intake threads. Spend an hour poking through them, it'll save lots of time.
D. I don't have a D, just didn't seem long enough yet.

CAI is supposed to get colder air from outside the engine bay, but has a chance of sucking up water into the engine.

SRI gives you warmer air, which can rob horsepower from an engine. Though there's a lot less chance of drawing water into the car.

It's been debated about hp gains. Honestly, I doubt you'll see anything huge with either a SRI or CAI. You'll definitely hear a difference, though. I'd say if you want a noticeable gain, get a header and take off the stock airbox and snorkel.

If you're still dead-set on getting an intake for the car, why not get a K&N Typhoon? You can convert it between CAI and SRI. So you can decide which you prefer.

I agree with him....the only reason i did not get one is because i got a great deal ($15) on my AEM CAI.

where would one find new headers at? and are the bolt on? the muffler shop that put on my new catback exhaust said I have two catalytic converters? is that true? can i get rid of one?

you do have 2 cats on your car. a header will usually remove one. the other can be swapped out for a midpipe or hi-flow cat. keep in mind it's illegal to remove a cat from the car

you can get rid of the second cat without throwing a cell. headers can be found at ebay-tsudo...awr.com-hand made...protegegarage.com-obx

Honestly i dont think it matters which intake you get. They all pretty much sound the same, and honestly thats all they are good for. Yall need to remember that this car comes stock with under 100whp.. even with all the bolt-ons made for the car you will still get stomped by a stock vtec prelude, gsr, and a variety of minivans.

My p5 came with a AEM CAI when i bought it... and i like the sound and the quality is great. My friend bought the ebay short ram for his protege, and it sounds just about the same.

Ebay with a nicer filter on it. The exhaust tone and sucking sound is not worth 200 bucks to me. Ebay it.

I figured out the website and I went there but can't find a header for a protege... am i even looking for the right thing ? I may have my terminology wrong...
