They don't have the article on the car and driver website yet, but in this month's issue they put the speed up against a tsx, a vw gli, an accord 6spd, and a g6 gxp. The mazdaspeed finished 4th out of 5, but I felt the review was biased. Their test vehicle had cloth interior and no moonroof, and they bitched and whined about it saying it had a cheap interior compared to the others. Their only other gripe was a "stiff ride" and a "hoover killer vacuum exhaust note." Needless to say, the car would've finished higher if they had obtained a test vehicle with leather and a moonroof.

This is why I contemplate cancelling my subscription sometimes.

I stopped reading Car and Driver a long time ago. I don't consider their writers to be automotive enthusiasts, just critics. They snub their noses at anything that doesn't perform like a Ferrari, ride like a Lexus, and get the fuel economy of a Geo Metro.

Speed magazine (in their final issue) ranked the MS6 #1 in their comparo.

its their opinion. The test was for which car makes the best daily driver/fun to drive. MS6 was more fun to drive but didn't make a best daily driver. Havne't been in the jetta but in the TSX. TSX might not have the power but its a whole lot better then the 6 in terms of ride quality, build quality and fit and finish. Hell I'll take a MS6 over a TSX but lets face it 99% of the people that buy these cars want more comfort. Besides if they tested the 150+lbs more heavy leather equipped car it would have been slower then the accord and all the magazine racer bitches would complain that they didn't test the sport model. You really can't please everyone. And yes the MS6 had an awful exhaust note for a sporty car. The MZ6 V6 has secks exhaust/intake noises with the injen.

I agree, C&D is like Consumer reports as far as testing goes. It is a good Magazine but not my style. I read R&T, Motor Trend and Automobile. Automobile and Motor Trend are great magazines if you like industry info. R&T is good because they have great editors. It is sad to see that the MS6 did so poorly when the V6 6 did so well. If you want to see MS come out on top, read Februarys Motor Trend or R&T SPEED.

Consumer report basily says "don't ever buy a 6, get an accord cause its better" ;)

Yea its a shame how they word things. I read the CD article on lunch today. The Jetta GLI won. Looks was not a category to be tested I guess.

I saw some Mazdaspeed 6's at our local dealer Sunday. They have like 4 in the dark grey and they look sweet. Something about that hood......

Yeah, I would never look to Consumer reports for a car review. I think Edmunds is by far the best on showing "real world" comparisons. They tell it how it is, not like Consumer Reports who tells it on their opinion.I think it is best to give the details and let the buyer decide what is most important. CR decides on a set of criteria and then they say if it is recommended or not.

Cr described the 6 as if it would break down before you left the "New Car" lot with it

I could have told you that. everyone see it as a neon with a turbo slapped on in. Then never read into the fact it's the only DOHC 2nd gen PL platform or other things that make it better than "Just a neon" title. They basicly took it back to a neon vs integra battle. I usualy only scan reviews for #s cause I never owned a car that any publisher gave good ratings.

ms6 just plain rocks. It's not the best car on the road but we know that. Why do we need some magazine to tell us what we like? If you enjoy your car tell everyone you know. That means more to mazda than anything else.
