Buying a 03 MSP

FIrst of all, hello everyone. I'm in the process of buying an '03 MSP with 23K on the clock, for almost $17K. My first question is; is this reasonable? I wasn't planning on this car, but it caught my eye at the dealership, so I haven't has too much time to research it. What I have seen is that it appears to be a pretty decent deal, based on blue book value, but I'd imagine that there is not a ton af data for these cars. I've been driving an older Audi for years (till the tranny exploded yesterday) so I don't know too much about the market these cars are in. second, is there anything problematic that I should look out for? Common failures? The dealer threw in a ~60k bumper to bumper, and 100K powertrain warranty, so I'm not too concerned, but it would still be nice to know. as far as mods go, I'm kinda out of capital right now, and I think I can find what I need from past posts. 17k is way too expensive. Most of the guys here got theirs for around 18k brand new. They usually sell for around 14k used.

well the dealer i mean stealership is trying to make you bend over and stick it where the sun dont shine. as far as things you should look for. primarily, from reading on the boards, the reflash dealers do and clunk fix. i the headunit has been replaced. and thats about it that all i know. good luck and tell them to lower the price, many people didnt get it at that price NEW!

ya, I'd ******* sell you mine with 15K for $14,XXX... and even then some people would say thats way overpriced. Your dealer is smoking crack.


tell him to drop it to 14 or you go on autotrader... then go on autotrader or search the boards... you can get much much cheaper and better.

well i say get it for 14k otherwise do a search in autotrader i bet you can get one shipper than that , i got mine brand new for 18.5k

maybe it depends where you're from? here in hawaii they were going for 25-27k brand new...

Upstate NY, found a couple on autotrader, very comparable mileage (less even), less than 300 miles from here, for $14K advertised.

when I went looking I wanted to find one for <$14k

However I settled on an 03.5 Ti MSP with 13,333 miles for $14,750 that already had about $3-3.5k in mods including a FMIC, CAI, TT, BOV, Gauges, TBE, coilovers.

You shouldn't take Hawaii into account when pricing vehicles in the mainland.

MSRP was $20,500 on the 2003 MSP. With 23K on the odometer that is too much. I don't care where its located. Forget about the bumper to bumper warranty, I suspect that is driving the price being asked.
