Has anyone invested in one of these plate frame bumper, bumpers? I'm curious to know what thickness would be appropriate to acommodate the bottom lip or whichever portion of the car that's vulnerable. It's much more attractive than the rubber floor mats hanging off other cars...

My friend with a BMW 335i had one of these. We deemed it necessary since we live in NYC (bumper rash doesn't get worse than here). Those will do more damage when hit at a higher rate of speed than just a very slow nudge. The mount literally tore two holes into his trunk along with a massive dent. I'd stick with the thicker rubber mats or the huge foam wrap around protector.

Was the BMW accident a special occurrence? Most bumper nudges I witness in NYC aren't so vicious.

We assume that it was another slow speed 'bumper nudge' of NYC. It was the Bumpshox XL.
