Thats amazing. I wonder the amount of power you throwing at the engine now?
Side bar:
i really just would like my car to be running never mind 20 psi. I saw it yesterday at the garage, all alone surrounded by cobras and rx7 with ls1 swaps. poor girl!!!!

So...? Any more updates...?

So what is one looking ($$$) at when upgrading the block?
If you engine is not blown, can you get away with just rods or are new pistons needed?

I would like to know what are the bare minimums to beef up the bottom end without cutting yourself short.

if your gonna go the bottom end do it right its not something you want ot half ass and you will thank your self in the long run. if this rod and piston setup is anything like the protege setup. your going to have to machine the stock piston to accept the free floating wrist pin for the rods if you want to do it that way

I didn't know the OEM pistons were not compatible with the stronger rods. In that case, I'd rather buy a matching set...

What does something like this set you back? Let's say you were to do it yourself...or have a shop do just the bottom end?

Just trying to get an idea...

I guess you can just buy PG's forged block for $5,000...though I wonder how much cheaper it would cost to do it yourself with the existing block; half price?

well no matter what your going to have to take it to a machine shop to get the block machined, id also get the motor balanced and the main align honed(in your using different main studs) while it was there. As far as what a shop would charge to assemble it i would have no idea being as im doing my motor my self and with my best friends dad that builds race engines.

there is no set of rods you can use with the stock piston. to go with the pauter arias setup from protegegarage, its about $1400, but there are several upgrades you should do, but don't have to, while you're in there.

rods/pistons
clutch
balance shaft delete kit
arp main and head studs

etc. it'll probably cost you close to 40-60 shop hours to complete everything. private shops are about 60$ an hour, mazda is $95.

I did it all myself and saved myself close to 3 or 4k in labor and BS charges.

I guess the only shop charges I would incurr would be to prep the block; cleaning and honing...? I would do the install of the hardware.
Hmmm... (scratch)
