bug deflector in winter

I've done a search and can't find anything on this.

Do you guys take your bug deflectors off in winter? Is this only a summer accesory? I've heard water can form into ice and crack it in half.

its a good idea, esp seeing as how there aren't bugs in the winter, or fall for that matter, in canada

I would like to keep it on to protect from rock chips but i suppose it'll hide the rock chips when i put it back on.

i have never gotten the point in bug reflectors.... how many bugs actually hit your hood?
and its not like they keep bugs off your windshield either

its more for rock chips then bugs. They do stop bugs from hitting the windsheild since it shoots airflow upwards.
