To all attendees, current MTMA members, and prospective MTMA members:
MTMA does collect annual dues for membership, which are currently set at $15 per year, collected in June of each year. Your dues payments entitles you to full membership in the club until June 30th, 2007. Full membership in the club offers the following benefits:
* Voting privileges for club matters and Executive Board elections
* Priority attendance for meets where attendance is limited (our Fun Runs, for example, have limited attendance because of the difficulty in keeping a large group of cars together)
* Discounted admission prices for meets that require an entrance fee
* Free e-mail address "@mazdateam.org"
* 2006-2007 membership card
* Free MTMA vinyl decal (see http://www.mazdateam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=105 for details and options)
The physical items (membership card and vinyl decal) can either be mailed directly to you or picked up in person at any meet. Your annual dues payments goes directly towards supporting the club. Here are some examples of where member dues have been spent:
* Web hosting fees for the www.mazdateam.org site
* Two-way radios for use in our Fun Runs to allow communications between cars during our Fun Runs to keep the group together, and communications between key members during larger meets (BBQ's for instance)
* MTMA vinyl decal orders
* Food and beverages for BBQ's
If you are interested in being a part of an active Mazda club with members throughout the states of NJ, NY, PA, and DE, please send your $15 annual dues via PayPal to info@mazdateam.org, or by check/money order/cash in person at the meet.
Please include the e-mail address you used when filling out your membership application as a comment with your PayPal payment or as a note with your check/money order/cash payment. If you have not yet filled out a membership application, visit http://www.mazdateam.org/joinmtma.php.
Note: I don't want to seem like I am begging for dues payments, but the club is currently significantly "in the red" because I just paid for our web hosting fees for June 2006 - June 2007 and just purchased four 2-way radios for car-to-car communications during fun runs. This was done out of pocket as the club funds were already a bit below zero. I'm just trying to recover my out of pocket expenses.
For supporting the club in addition to your annual dues payments, you can also purchase additional vinyl decals or windshield banners (your initial membership dues include one window decal at no charge). Information about decals can be found here: http://www.mazdateam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=105.
Also, I will be setting up an account with Cafepress or a similar service to offer MTMA-branded t-shirts, mugs, etc. I will post more information about that when it is ready to launch.

Luckily, the club does not have any major purchases to make in the near future (web hosting fees are all paid up until June 2007, and four 2-way radios should be enough to spread out among the fun run attendees to help keep the group together), so once this debt is paid off, the club can once again start saving up money for the large BBQ I am planning for the fall!

BTW, it looks like we may have enough two-way radios for most attendees. We have at least 6 radios for the meet -- four owned by MTMA and two more brought by DiS.
They definitely have been a great help keeping the group together in the past, which is why I went ahead and bought 4 for the club. Eventually I want to purchase more but the club's finances currently are in bad shape...see the long post above for more details.
So please, anyone who wishes to join the club (or renew your membership for 2006-2007), bring your $15 dues payment to the meet if possible! I will bring the silver window decals for new members. If you want a color other than silver, they will have to be ordered as we only stock the silver ones. Just to let everyone know...the Delaware River is severely flooding right now. Like 15+ feet above flood stage.
This means that I may need to alter the course around any detours & road closures. A good portion of the cruise is on mountains or plenty far enough from the river, but there are a few roads that I am concerned about.
We'll see what happens tomorrow
