Broken Side Mirror - Replacement Options

Hello all,

Just got back from a long road trip, and somewhere along the way the mirror got blasted by something and received quite a bit of damage. In the picture you can see the white cover is obviously cracked, and the black bottom piece is missing. I've done a little bit of research and I need some guidance as to what the best and most efficient way of fixing this would be.

It seems as though I can get the white cover fairly easily from some part sites, but the black piece that's missing on the bottom doesn't appear to be an option to buy. Would it make sense to buy the white cover, and a junkyard mirror to source the black piece and assemble it that way. Or would I be better off completely removing the mirror assembly and buying new?

It's a 2015 CX-5 GT. Any guidance is appreciated! Thanks!

It’s a 2015 CX-5 GT, I’d try the salvage yard for the whole piece and search it nationwide for the same color (white?) side mirror. It’s not too heavy, the shipping should be reasonable.

Unless you go OEM, make sure you buy the mirror housing and the color cap from the same vendor/mfg. If the housing is damaged, it's easier to buy a new complete one than trying to repair/replace the lower.

I replaced my mirror 2 years ago. Bought a CX5 clone housing off amazon (came w a gloss black cap) and found a deal on an OEM matching silver cap. The mirror housing installed perfect, plugged in etc but the silver cap was slightly off and wouldn't work with the housing. So I now have mismatched mirrors. Black on passenger, silver on drivers.
