Broken seat?

Sat down in my 2010 mazda 3 the other day and heard a pop and the seat was loose, I figured the bolt somehow backed out of the rail and came out ( the amount of stupid s*** I've had break on this car is rediculous and god forbid mazda actually cover it under warranty) any ways I pulled the seat out last night and was pretty surprised

The only thing that holds the seat to the rail is a thin pice of metal welded to a bar

Now granted neither the metal or the bar broke, the weld did. But how exactly would this be safe in a crash? I'm 6'2 not a little guy by any means but if normally getting in and out of this car breaks the seat what am I to expect of it in a crash while getting tossed around?

Don't get me wrong while it is annoying that it broke I'm not worried about fixing it ( I know several welders. 10 minute fix)I'm more worried about what this could do in a crash and if something this small failed so easily what else could fail during a crash?

i got a broken one as well.

Mazda need to recall these, its not that the weld is weak but the locking mechanism(really really bad push-on fastener) gets weakened and there's side to side play. Once these arms get enough lateral stress it snapped.

The height adjuster (which that is) is fairly cheap*, but the tools for those locking bushings/washers i dont have....

The weld will be more likely to break if the seat is raised.

*$125 vs the entire lower frame $1000.

push on fastener is cheap, but not safe.
