I have the switchblade type key for my CX-7 and the other day my keys fell off the other end when I pulled it out of my pocket. After inspection I noticed that the portion of the remote where the 'O' ring attached to hold my other keys had cracked and therefore will not hold anything on the remote end of the key. I only had one key, a small swiss army knife and a Mazda key chain attached to it.
Long story short, it peaved me that it is made of cheap plastic so I called the dealer and was told they would be happy to replace it as long as my car was still under warranty (which it is).
Thought I would pass this along as I was pleasantly surprised that it would be replaced and wanted to let other know who may have had a similar issue.
